Competition Series

Share your passion for math by coaching a competition team! Coaches prepare students during the school year to compete while building their confidence in problem-solving. Competition volunteering in person includes scoring tests, helping with on-site check-in, passing out snacks/giveaways and presenting awards. Most roles may last 1-4 hours.

  • Coach a Competition Team (Annual)
  • Chapter Competition Day Volunteer (February)
  • State Competition Day Volunteer (March)
  • National Competition Day Volunteer (May)

National Math Club

Volunteers with a passion for math may be involved in leading a club in their local community or review and score projects virtually.

  • Gold Level Honor Roll Reviewer (May, virtual, 2-6 hours)
  • Lead a Math Club (Annual, virtual or in-person, 1-5 hours per month)

Math Resources

All year long, volunteers help us create resources virtually for our educators and students to use. For these roles, volunteers are vetted to ensure they have the necessary math expertise and background. Students in middle or high school and relatives of current MATHCOUNTS participants are not eligible for these roles.

Alumni Scholarships

Volunteers help us recognize and support amazing MATHCOUNTS alumni in high school and college by virtually reviewing and scoring scholarship applications to help us determine finalists and winners.

  • Alumni Scholarship (January-February)
  • Community Coaching Scholarship (June)
In-Person Volunteer Roles

We have lots of in-person roles throughout the year. The links below provide more info about opportunities at Chapter (February), State (March) and National (May) Competitions, as well as coaching a competition team and leading a club.
