How Can I Become Involved With MATHCOUNTS?

Solve Fun Math Problems

Commitment: at a time convenient for you; as much or little time as you want
The math problems in the MATHCOUNTS competitions and preparation materials go through many rounds of editing, and we are always looking for volunteers to help with that review process. Work with our Manager of Education to ensure our answers are correct and the wording is clear. If you were that person who always found his/her teacher’s mistakes, we need you! Problems come in sets of 10… review as many or as few sets as you want.

Write a "Problem of The Week" Set

Commitment: at a time convenient for you; 1-3 hours
Each week MATHCOUNTS posts a set of 3-4 problems that are based on a particular topic. Many times this topic is relevant to the time of year: Back to School, Halloween, Super Bowl, St. Patrick’s Day, etc. We are looking for problem sets to use throughout the year… contribute a problem set today! Chapter & State Competition Support

Commitment: usually a Saturday morning in February or March
Running a competition can be an involved and challenging process, so chances are the chapter or state coordinator who runs the MATHCOUNTS competitions in your area is in need of support and volunteers! From test proctoring to public speaking, there are a number of ways you can help at your local chapter or state competition, and every local community is different.

Become a Club Leader or Competition Coach

Commitment: usually 2-4 hours each month after or before school with kids
Becoming a Club Leader or a Competition Series Coach is a serious commitment, but creating or assisting with an established MATHCOUNTS program at your local middle school, community center or organization is a great way to give back and share your passion for math with bright, motivated students.
