THE TRANSFORMATION GAME - PUBLIC RECAP
Game Recap
In the Transformation Game, Mathletes compete against each other or work collaboratively to use the fewest transformations to map a starting image to a final image on a game board. Students can play with printed game boards and pencils, but using Desmos makes it easier and more interactive for them to explore translations, dilations, rotations and reflections in the coordinate plane. Bonus: This activity includes Google Classroom-compatible resources.
Materials Needed
- 1 computer with internet access per pair of students
- Free Desmos account
- 1 score sheet per student
- 1 writing utensil per student
- Transformations in the Desmos Geometry Tool video
- Desmos game boards (10 options)
- 1 printed game board per student, if not using Desmos (10 options)
Not a club leader yet? Let's fix that!
Only registered math clubs can access this activity. Fortunately, for you, the National Math Club is completely free and open to both
schools and non-school groups. If you're a volunteer or educator leading 4 or more students in grades 6-8, you're likely eligible.
