Reason #1:
We help kids who love math and kids who fear math.
While working together in a supportive environment, students with varying interest and ability levels in math participate in positive math experiences—like creating a video based on a MATHCOUNTS problem through the Math Video Challenge, competing on a team of 4 against a rival school through the MATHCOUNTS Competition Series or working together on fun, collaborative activities in The National Math Club. These are experiences that cannot be replicated in the classroom—experiences that make students better problem solvers.

We have programs in over 8,000 schools/groups and conduct interschool competitions in every U.S. state and territory. As a result, MATHCOUNTS is making a difference not only on a national level, but also in your community. MATHCOUNTS builds the critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for success. In an independent study, 87% of MATHCOUNTS students said their confidence in their STEM abilities improved after participating in the Competition Series. Our programs have been recognized for their effectiveness and educational value by STEMworks by WestEd and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Plus, MATHCOUNTS alumni are also more likely to continue with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), with 3 out of every 4 alumni studying a STEM field in college—nearly three times the national average.
