Isn't It About Time Your Students Had Fun with Math?

Outstanding math resources and programs...for free?

Easy ways to make math fun, no strings attached?

You might be wondering where the fine print is on an offer like that, but at MATHCOUNTS we're not trying to sell anything...we're trying to change student attitudes about math. It's why we created the National Math Club, MATHCOUNTS Competition Series and Math Video Challenge...and give excellent math educators like you lots of free, high-quality resources.

So join us! Together, we can help all students fall in love with math and reach their full potential.

The National Math Club

Inspire curiosity and build confidence in students of all levels through the National Math Club. This program creates a space where learning math is fun, social and supportive, so that every student becomes a lifelong math learner.

How Much Does It Cost? Nothing! This program is free (yes, really). Just register and tell us where to send your materials. We'll send you what we call a Club in a Binder, plus give you access to online resources including the free MATHCOUNTS Club App!

How Does It Work? After you register we'll mail you a Club in a Binder, which includes 5 awesome math games. Each game comes with a mini math lesson, works well with groups of all sizes and can be played using just everyday materials like paperclips, dice and playing cards. If you'd like, you'll also be able to download the free MATHCOUNTS Club App, which generates cards and dice for the games. The best thing about the National Math Club (aside from being free) is that educators have a lot of flexibility...use these great club resources in the way that works best for your students.

Why Does It Work? Math club is designed to be interactive, laid-back and lots of fun. Rather than doing "textbook math" students play games...and learn math without even realizing it.

Math Video Challenge

Combine math, creativity and technology in a fun, unique way through the Math Video Challenge. This program gives students with lots of different skills and interests the opportunity to engage in math and apply it to the real world.

How Does It Work? Students work in teams of 4 to create a video that answers a MATHCOUNTS problem and demonstrates the real-world application of the math problem. They post their video to the Math Video Challenge website in February, get votes through mid-March and then the top videos get prizes and recognition. The top 4 videos get an all-expenses paid trip to the National Competition, where our Competition Series students vote to pick the winner. If you have students with a passion for technology, or if you have students who would thrive with project-based learning, then the Math Video Challenge is right for them!

Why Does It Work? Any student, whether s/he likes technology, art, writing or acting, can enjoy this math program. Students work together to produce an original video, so they develop the 21st century skills they'll need to succeed—like communication, collaboration, creativity and tech savvy.

MATHCOUNTS Competition Series

Cultivate talent in bright young minds through the MATHCOUNTS Competition Series. This program is the nation's only middle school math program that brings together students from all 50 states to participate in a series of in-person math competitions.

How Much Does It Cost? Just $30 per student if you register by Friday, November 3rd and $35 per student after that. Title I schools receive a 50% discount. Schools can register between 1 and 10 students for this program, and the registration fees cover them for the entire series, no matter how far they advance. Educators who register receive a mailed kit of practice materials, plus online access to lots more resources!

How Does It Work? After you register we'll mail you a kit that includes a hard copy of the 2017-2018 MATHCOUNTS School Handbook (see below!). You'll also get online access to interactive materials, electronic resources, videos and lots of math problems! After coaching your students throughout the fall and winter you'll give the School Competition in January. Then, 1-10 of your students (depending on how many you registered) advance to the Chapter Competition in your area. Top scorers from each chapter advance to the State Competition in March, and finally the National Competition in May.

Why Does It Work? The Competition Series is really exciting, and is designed to be fun and fast-paced. Because this program includes both individual and team rounds of competition, students build problem solving skills from their time spent preparing and learning from each other...not just from math drills.
