Our Partnership with 3M

3M has sponsored the MATHCOUNTS Foundation at the national and local levels for more than 2 decades.

Recently, 3Mgives grants have supported our partnership with the National Society of Black Engineers and given extra resources to underserved communities and schools where a majority of students are underrepresented in STEM.

In addition to national support, local 3M facilities are actively involved with MATHCOUNTS in their communities! 3M employees serve as coaches and co-coaches, plan and run extra math competitions and practice sessions for students and volunteer at chapter and state competitions.

3M employees also play a vital role in the strategic direction of the Foundation and local-level leadership:

Robin Higgs, Manufacturing Director, Film and Materials Resources Division, is a current member of the MATHCOUNTS Board of Directors.
Jason Unruh, Systems Engineering Specialist, is the coordinator for the Northeastern South Dakota Chapter.
Adam Buckhouse, Electrical Engineer, is the co-coordinator for the Northeastern South Dakota Chapter.

From scoring to proctoring tests, from on-site check-in to passing out lunches and snacks to students, our local coordinators need Competition Day volunteers to help their events run smoothly.

We'll mail you free handbooks, posters, ribbons and pencils to use as prizes or practice materials for your students!

Due to limited supplies, we can provide a maximum of 500 pencils, 50 ribbons, 50 posters and 25 handbooks per 3M facility.
